For Immediate Release:
Cynthia Earley Schlorship to Recognize Two Student Athletes in Great Chesapeake Bay Swim
San Diego, CA. – June 2, 2010 – The Cynthia Earley Educational Foundation (CEEF) each year recognizes student athletes who have raised the most sponsorships to the Great Chesapeake Bay Swim (GCBS) in support of its charities. The 2010 event is scheduled for Sunday June 13th near Annapolis, MD, and will have over 70 student athletes between the ages of 15-22 eligible for the scholarships entered in either the 1 or 4.4 mile events. The two students will be recognized at the GCBS awards ceremony after the 4.4 mile race at Hemmingway’s beach on the eastern shore of Maryland next to the twin bridges.
The $1,000 scholarship is named after Cynthia Earley, (1933–1998) who assisted in the founding of the GCBS and was renowned for her love of education, young people and compassion for others. Returning this year is a second place award of $250 and will be the third time the CEEF organization has offered multiple scholarships since it was founded in 1999.
The Cynthia Earley Educational Foundation celebrates the student athlete in the community and recognizes the tremendous personal achievement of young people making their way through school and life. The Foundation is fortunate to have steadfast support of many of its long time contributors even in the face of a difficult economic period.
